We did it. We survived the first week of school. :-) Yay! Everyone seems to be pretty happy with their teachers so far and all have come home smiling at the end of the day. Yay!
And I have my own time from 9-2. Yay! I haven't been sad about all of my children being at school all day at all this week. A tiny speck of me feels bad for not being sad. Awhile ago, in anticipation for that day coming, I did have some moments where I thought, "Gosh, the only thing I know how to do is take care of babies and kids. Maybe I should have more just because that's all I know how to do and they just grow up so fast and 3-6 is just the cutest age ever and what am I going to do without that cuteness in my life everyday?" Those moments were brief. I decided there is more to me than that and that making me worth something could not depend on how my kids turn out when they are older so I could prove to everyone else and myself that I do know what I'm doing because really when it comes down to it they will do and be what they want and it is their journey not mine. So to carry forward on my journey in life- Right now I've decided it's time for me to get my own rhythm and routine. This year I want to focus and taking care of me, the very basics that I neglected with young kids and to clean out the house and purge it of things I don't want or need anymore. I also desperately need to do William and Henry's baby books (of some kind) because they are beginning to doubt they were born since we have no photo documentation of it neatly in a book. (yes, that is an exaggeration, but not by much.) That is something for the -30 days though. Right now, the little stuff.
I was able to get a shower regularly and without anyone pounding on the door because they need something or crying because someone isn't playing fair. I went to the grocery store without anyone begging me to buy stuff or running down the aisles. I was able to do the laundry and finish it. I exercised even! Sadly the 5 minute uninterrupted workout I did left me sore all week. Baby steps right? I even read the Relief Society lesson ahead. My visiting teachers took me to the temple one day (well overdue for that one- Henry commented that he didn't think girls were allowed). I never did finish cleaning my bedroom, but I did make my bed every day. Oh, I'm just so happy. :-) I can't stop time so I might as well enjoy what's coming instead of mourning. Plus, I played with my kids so I don't feel any guilt that I didn't spend enough time with them.
Next week is looking pretty busy too- I'm hoping to get my room cleaned and work on "re-doing" the bathroom. There's the laundry and grocery shopping of course. I have a well check Dr. visit scheduled and Ana will have an orthodontist appointment to get her braces off (FINALLY!). There is also a funeral that came up and since I'm in the Relief Society Presidency I have to help out with that. Luckily the food is going to be catered so I just need to help set up and clean up and I am happy it is someone I don't know- someone in the ward who only sometimes comes to church was having her mother move closer so the mother's records were being transferred to our ward and she passed away just before she moved. Maybe that sounds insensitive, but I've never done a funeral before and the Relief Society President has been out of town and very busy with her son's wedding, so for my "first funeral" I'm glad I don't have emotional ties while trying to figure out what in the world I'm doing. I'm also hoping I can squeeze in a haircut and I have 1 out of 3 visiting teaching appointments set up.
Ana and Isaac didn't want first day pictures taken, but William and Henry did -down to telling me how they wanted to pose. :-)

Update 9/30/12
Still haven't had a chance to clean my room or get my haircut. (and just barely "finished" this blog post).
But I did get together with some friends to have a video game day- you know, since that's what mom's do all day. One friend suggested we take pictures of us and edit them so it looks like we beat all our kids' high scores and then text them to them on their phones. hee hee hee. :-) We didn't actually play any games though. We just ended up enjoying the visit and a chance to see each other in between our laundry and grocery shopping and other chores because that's what mom's actually do all day.
